Lyrics

Excerpts

JAMES P LONG

I’ll walk with you in the sunlight and the shadow;

I’ll walk with you at the rising of the dawn;

I’ll walk with you in the blazing blast of noonday;

And in the flaming of the sunset at the dying of the day.

I’ll walk with you in cloudy storms of summer;

I’ll walk with you when the rain falls all around;

I’ll walk with you through autumn’s fiery colors

when green gives way to red and gold

carpeting the ground.

And I will walk with you through the winter,

When your breath shrounds me like the fog,

And the cold, chill winds blow down from the mountains,

And the snows come, silent in the night.

I’ll walk with you in the early green of springtime;

I’ll walk with you as life begins again.

I’ll walk with you in all the times we’re given,

in all the times we’re given

I choose to walk with you.

And I will walk with you in the brightness,

When our times are radiant as the sun;

And when the stars rise in a moonlit sky

and shadows overspread the night.

I’ll walk with you in the sunlight and the shadow.

I’ll walk with you at the rising of the dawn.

I’ll walk with you in the blazing blast of noonday

and in the flaming of the sunset

at the dying of the day.

I Will Walk with You

I HAVE DREAMS

(Of What You Can Become)

I have dreams

of what you can become.

I have dreams

of what you will be.

In my mind

I see that Radiant Star;

In my mind

I see the Sun of Love,

rising to shine,

rising to shine on you.

HOPE WAS BORN

Who could imagine

God as a child,

Infant Creator,

nurtured and held?

Fathomless,

eternal wonder,

but all at once hope was born.

IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME

When the mountains shake

and the islands quake

and the stars begin to fall;

When the nations rage

in that final age

and plot against the Son;

When the horsemen ride

through the crimson tide

of our grief and suffering;

When our pain is great

and the hour is late

to claim what we believe ...

It is only a matter of time ...

LIGHT OF JOY

The One who gave you sight

will be himself your light

and he will be

your never-fading joy!

GIFTS COME DOWN

Joy or sorrow,

Happiness or loss,

Pain or pleasure,

Benevolence or cross,

Pain or pleasure,

every gift’s received

from the Maker,

known or unperceived.

Life brings hardship,

side-by-side with good;

God brings order

only sometimes understood.

MY IMMANUEL

You are joy to my world.

You are my Prince of Peace.

Into my silent night

Come, O come, Immanuel.

Life Is a Never-ending Stream

We ride the current of time into an ocean of timelessness.

There we will drift, like strangers forgotten,

Or float into the loving arms of God.

Life is a never-ending stream,

flowing on through the years.

Grace Can Change

Grace can change our yesterdays

and transform our tomorrows now,

long before they come.

Grace can change our yesterdays

and write our stories, new again.

Grace can change.

God Is Closer Than Your Breath

When you walk through the valley of the shadow;

When your steps take you to the edge;

When your voice echoes back across the void;

God is closer than your breath.

God is closer than your breath.

The More That Time Goes By

The more the time goes by,

The more I wonder why

you love the likes of me.

Oh, I wonder.

You know, you’re teaching me

a bit more what it means to be accepted

unconditionally.

Oh, I love you.

Oh, I love you.

Fly Away on the Breath of God

Your eyes will see the face of God;

Your hands will touch the nail-scarred hands of Christ.

Every tear will dry, every sorrow fly away

on the breath of God.

The love of God will be your peace,

the smile of Christ your never-fading joy.

You will dwell in the City where the Lamb is the light.

You’ll drink from the River, the River of Life,

and you will never thirst, never thirst again.

Your eyes will see the face of God;

Your hands will touch the nail-scarred hands of Christ.

Every knee will bend, every voice ascend in praise

to the great I Am.

We fix our eyes

not on what is seen,

but on what is unseen.

For what is seen

is temporary;

but what is unseen

is eternal.
